Jane Comeau
Communications Director
Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration
LaCrosse WI

How Long In Congregation: Two years

Mission: Based in La Crosse, Wis., the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration consist of more than 340 women religious engaged in furthering the work of the Catholic Church and the Gospel. Their partners in ministry, including more than 200 affiliates, join them in service of God's mission. The sisters work in the United States and internationally in varied ministries, creating innovative approaches to healing, teaching and praying.

Ministries: As the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration we commit ourselves to promoting sustainability of the environment, seeking peace and justice for all, and inviting new members to join us on our Franciscan journey. The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have prayed 24/7 since 1878. We minister throughout the United States as well as Canada, Central America, Mexico and Africa. We offer a wide variety of ministry options including education, health care, parish--just to name a few.

Most Rewarding: The most rewarding aspect of my work is assisting in the advancement of the mission of this amazing organization. The new mission for our internal publication says it all, "FSPA, their affiliates and prayer partners change the world. We tell their stories." I am proud to tell these stories.

Most Challenging: The biggest challenge I face as a Director of Communications is the changing face of the PR field itself. Technology has created thousands of new communications vehicles to deliver our message. How do we keep up? Daily we deal with a wide range of issues, from "who follows us on Twitter" to "who needs a large font/easy to read print out of a publication." I make sure my Web site is search engine optimized and on the same day figure out if I can still put a .mov in VHS format. Not to mention, do I write AP style or Google style? And for heaven's sake, never split the infinitive.

Member How Long: Two years

Grateful For: I am most grateful for the networking provided through NCNWR. The level of sharing between members is so helpful when tackling a new project. Almost always I can find an archived question (and answers) to an issue I'm tackling today.

Personal Information: I have three important jobs and they are in this order: wife, mother and Director of Communications.

Education: I earned a B.S. degree, marketing major, from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse.

Volunteer: I am a member of the local YMCA's Strong Kids campaign and volunteer at many Tornado Youth Hockey events.

Family: My husband, Erin, is my yin. I have two sons, Kyle (6) and Colin (3) who introduce me to things I never would know exist, like bakugans. On weekends, you'll find me pretending to be a rock star via Guitar Hero for the Wii.
