Mission: The Holy Cross Sisters is a community of women religious who, along with our associates, seek to transform the challenge of today into hope by meeting the needs of the time. We embrace the ideals of St. Francis of Assisi and our founders, Fr. Theodosius Florentini and S. Mary Theresa Scherer.
Ministries: Our main corporate ministry is Bell Tower Residence, and assisted living facility in Merrill, WI, which is on the Holy Cross Campus. In addition we have sisters and associates who minister in Kentucky, working with the poor; Louisiana, doing prison ministry and teaching; Ohio and Illinois, hospital chaplains; Minnesota, working with the poor; Michigan, parish work; Maryland, LCWR work; Wisconsin, nursing and spiritual guidance.
Most Rewarding: Since I am also an associate of the Holy Cross Sisters, I find it most rewarding when I can convey the charism of this congregation to individuals and the general public. My background is in the field of communications including radio, television, and prior to joining the Holy Cross Sisters, writer and magazine editor. When I'm able to draw on my past experiences to further the news and stories of the Holy Cross Community with the public in the various venues, I find that most rewarding.
Most Challenging: Keeping the communications fresh and out in the public sector would have to be one of the most challenging aspects of my job. Many of the sisters and associates are not looking for publicity with their various ministries, but in order to get the attention of the public, these stories need to be told.
Member How Long: 2 years
Grateful For: I believe having the support from such a wide array of talented people can only help me achieve success in what I'm doing. Most individuals are happy to share their stories and go that extra mile to help you when you have a question. In particular the Region 9 communicators are like a mini family that hashes out problems and unites to further the cause of women religious.
Personal Information: I am 56 years old and married.
Education: I graduated from Trans-American School of Broadcasting, Wausau, WI.
Volunteer: I am active in the Merrill Rotary Club as well as the Holy Cross Associate Program.
Family: My wife of 22 years is Carol. We adopted two children, Sonya from Brazil who is now 31 and living in St. Paul, MN and Todd who died at the age of 25 four years ago.
