Conference

First Time?

VENUE

Welcome to your first NCNWR conference! Our annual conference is held at a conveniently located hotel to provide ease of access for members and ample meeting space. Generally the reduced conference room rate is made available to attendees for a few days prior to and following the annual conference so you can enjoy the sites and sounds of each new location.

You will find the check-in table located in an easily accessible and visible place in the hotel. Here you will receive a name tag, a folder of conference information and your conference tote bag.

General sessions are held in a main meeting space, while breakout sessions or workshops are held in other rooms within the hotel. Be sure to check your nametag for the breakout sessions for which you have registered and check your agenda for room locations.

Our annual conference starts in the evening, with a New Member Orientation. Be sure to pre-register for this event. Here you’ll get the information you need to make the most of your NCNWR membership!

SCHEDULE

The highlight of our first evening together is a welcome reception. This is a very casual affair and a great place to get to know other NCNWR members. Generally there are light snacks provided during this time, as well as beverages. Often alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.

The next two days will be filled with opportunities to learn, get to know your peers and have fun. Each day will include a general session and one day will feature breakout sessions as well.

General Sessions: These sessions are held in the main meeting space and are designed to appeal to the NCNWR audience as a whole.

Breakout Sessions: These sessions focus on specific topics of interest to individual NCNWR members. Please check your schedule for the location of the sessions for which you have registered.

Business Meeting: During the business meeting NCNWR individual members will get updates on the organization and vote on necessary items. This is also when the election of board members occurs.

Best Practice Presentations: One of the major highlights of the conference, Best Practice presentations are generally held the final morning of the conference. Be sure to arrange your travel plans to allow your to take in the whole conference... you won’t want to miss this!

SOCIAL EVENTS

There are many opportunities for social interaction, both structured and informal. The first of these is the welcome reception held the first evening of the conference. After that, the optional night out is a great opportunity to explore each host city with a new group of friends. The gala dinner is also an opportunity for a more formal yet relaxed meal, with time for conversation.

We try to allow ample time for lunch so you can get to know those sitting at your table.

FOOD

A light breakfast and lunch are usually provided during the conference. We generally have one optional night out (at an additional cost) as a group where a meal is included. If you don’t register for this excursion, supper that evening is on your own.

The gala dinner is held one evening during the conference and is generally a more formal affair. Entertainment is also provided at this meal. This year, we will have a gala luncheon celebrating NCNWR's 15th anniversary.

The final morning of the conference, a more substantial breakfast is provided to ensure everyone is well-nourished for the trip home.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation for the night out is provided. All other transportation is on your own. Most hotel locations provide easy access to taxis, public transportation and car rental.
